By The Sport Book September 18, 2018 12:57:13When you think about the best offenses in the NFL, you may think of the Broncos, Seahawks, Falcons, Bears and Redskins.
However, it’s the best offensive line in the entire league that’s getting all the attention.
When the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns met in Week 7, the Broncos went out and added a star to their offensive line with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
They took the best player in the draft in guard Jonathan Cooper, who the team said had the best combination of size, athleticism and speed they’d seen all year.
They also added two guards in guard Alex Boone and center Tyler Kroft, who were both second-round picks.
The Broncos ranked third in the NFC West, and fifth in the AFC West, in rushing and rushing yards per game, per Football Outsiders.
It’s a testament to Cooper’s ability to protect the passer, and the Broncos’ run blocking.
In 2017, Cooper was second in the National Football League with 1,717 total tackles, including 6.5 sacks, while finishing fifth with 15 quarterback hurries.
He also led the NFL with 22 quarterback hurles.
He was one of only five linemen to have 100 or more quarterback hurleys in each of the past four seasons.
Cooper was also named NFL Offensive Lineman of the Year and Offensive Linemanship Player of the Week after finishing the season with two forced fumbles, eight quarterback hurriers and five quarterback hits.
In 2018, Cooper earned a Super Bowl ring after his first three years as a Bronco.
He had a team-best eight sacks and 13 quarterback hurrows in a Super-Bowl win over the Patriots, the most of any player in NFL history.
He also was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time All-Pro selection and a two time AFC Defensive Player of Year.
Cooper has been named to six Pro Bowls, including two in his career.
The best offensive lineman in the world is a big deal.
But, the team that’s going up against it on Saturday night in Oakland will have to put the pressure on.
Coopers performance will come into question after the Bengals and Ravens played for a Superbowl last year.
Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was the first player in league history to rush for 1,000 yards with at least 1,200 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Bernard finished with 1.96 yards per carry and averaged 4.6 yards per reception.
The Ravens averaged 5.9 yards per attempt and 4.3 yards per catch, per ESPN Stats & Info.
In his first two seasons, Bernard led the league with 1 for 16 touchdown receptions and 1 for 12 punt return touchdowns.
The Bengals offense struggled mightily against the Browns in 2017.
They finished with a 1-7 record and lost to the Broncos in the divisional round.
It was the Browns’ first playoff defeat in four years.
In addition to being one of the NFL’s best offensive lines, the Bengals also ranked second in passing yards per play (265.3) and second in total offense (5,824.2) per FootballOutsiders.
The Bengals averaged 17.6 points per game in the regular season.
The offense didn’t look nearly as impressive in the playoffs against the 49ers and Steelers, but the Bengals were still able to beat the 49er defense on the road in a 24-20 victory in San Francisco.
The next game, Cincinnati defeated the Steelers 24-17 in Pittsburgh.
The team that made history against the Broncos was the Denver Broncos, who made history by becoming the first team to lose in the first round of the playoffs.
The Broncos were eliminated in the fourth round of a wild-card playoff game.
