New report: Trump told Russian ambassador he wanted to stop U.S. sanctions against Russia

A new report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence says President Donald Trump told the Russian ambassador to the United States that he wanted the United State to stop retaliating against Russia.

The report was published Thursday.

The Office of Special Counsel released the report on Thursday morning.

Trump was in Moscow at the time to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The new report says Trump told Lavrov the United Kingdom and France were willing to lift sanctions against the Russian government.

The Kremlin and Trump’s administration have both denied the report.

The two countries have been at odds since Trump took office.
