Daily dodge news: Broncos defensive end Corey Liuget wants to be named Defensive Player of the Year

Denver Broncos defensive tackle Corey Liuget wants to get named the Defensive Player Of The Year.

The Broncos defensive lineman announced his candidacy for the award Sunday morning on the official team website.

“We want to give something back to our fans, the community, and our coaches,” Liugets father, Dave Liugette, said in a statement.

“I’m excited to announce I will be the new Defensive Player For The Year on the Denver Broncos, I want to thank my wife, our children, our family, the entire Denver Broncos organization, and my teammates.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all my coaches and teammates for giving me a chance to be in this position.”

Luget is the first active player to win the award.

He was a first-team All-Pro in 2017 and was named a first team All-NFL third team as a rookie.

Liuget also played in all 13 games this season and had two sacks and four tackles for loss, while making 13 tackles and an interception.
