Beloit man charged in death of child

A Beloit father is accused of killing his 8-year-old son after he was taken to a hospital with a seizure, according to police.

The Beloit Police Department said Thursday that 19-year old Michael A. Wahlgren of the 100 block of East Beloit Avenue was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.

The child died on July 6 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

Police said Wahlstrom was at the hospital when his son was taken into custody.

Wurmsgren allegedly grabbed the child and placed him in a restraint chair.

Wurmsgren allegedly pulled the child to the floor, where he reportedly told the child that he was going to kill him.

Wurlensgren then allegedly put the child in a back seat and drove him to a nearby Walgreens store, where the child was found dead, police said.

Investigators said Wurmingsgren told them he found the child on the floor of a parking lot and called police.

Wurtman was charged Thursday with first degree murder and one count of child abuse.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
